Merit- based scholarships can be awarded by a college, university or a private foundation. The type of scholarship like this one requires an essay and an interview. Along with the essay, applicants will have to submit letters of reference from their teachers or employees to the scholarship committee. The best applicant after the performance is awarded with a scholarship.

Need-Based Scholarships for Nurses

These types of scholarships are based on financial need or to members of groups that aren’t so much represented in the higher education. Financial need scholarships require an application and also a submission of tax returns or other financial documents. Need- based scholarships are also focused on particular ethnic backgrounds like African-American, Hispanic, Arab or Japanese. The availability to individuals with learning or physical disability makes need-based scholarships most wanted.
